Everythingelseisinorder,justasitis.
Letthesummerskiesholdoff,forthemoment.
Thisisjustashewantsit.
Alittleatatime,ofeachnewthing,isbest.
Toomuchandtoosuddenistoofrightening-
Wheniblockthelight,abulkfromspace,
Tolethimintohismotherforasuck,
Heboltsayardortwo,thenfreezes,
Staringfromeveryhairinalldirections,
Readyfortheworst,shutupinhishopefulreligion,
Alittlesyllogism
Withawetblue-reddishmuzzle,forGod"sthumb.
Youseeallhishopesbustling
Ashereachesbetweenthewornrailstowards
Thetopheavyovenofhismother.
Hetremblestogrow,stretchinghiscurl-tiptongue-
Whatdidcattleeverfindhere
Tomakethisdearlittlefellow
Soeagertopreparehimself?
Heisalreadyintherace,andquiveringtowin-
Hisnewpurpledeyeballswivel-jerks
intheelbowingpushofhisplans.
Hungrypeoplearegettinghungrier,
Butchersdevelopingexpertiseandmarkets,
Buthejustwobbleshistail-andglistens
Withinhisdapperprofile
Unawareofhowhiswholelineage
Hasbeentiedup.
Heshiversforfeeloftheworldlickinghisside.
Heislikeanember-oneglow
Oflightinghimselfup
Withthefuelofhimself,breathingandbrightening.
Soonhe"llplungeout,toscatterhisseethingjoy,
Tobepresentatthegrass,
Tobefreeonthesurfaceofsuchawideness,
